Brompton Bicycle

Brompton Bicycle | Greenford

Brompton Bicycle instructed us to complete a large scale mezzanine project. The aim was to build a large mezzanine over a portion of the factory. A mezzanine would create new office spaces on the first floor and training rooms on the ground floor. Our biggest challenge was to build whilst the factory was running during the busy Christmas period.

The Design

The Brompton Bicycle brand has a clear identity already. Our client was keen to reflect this in the newly created spaces. To start we incorporated the colour black on a number of walls and kept the neutral Skandi design that featured in the existing office spaces. Kitchen and break-out areas were zoned using different vinyl and carpet options. Finally, we introduced Glasswall along the dividing office walls to retain as much light as possible.

The Build

There were hurdles to over come with this build. Firstly, we had to build whilst the factory was still open. Secondly, we had to keep to a tight deadline. As a result, ensuring all the preliminaries and prep work had been done thoroughly was essential. Health and Safety was a top priority as construction work on an occupied site can be hazardous. Due to our attention to detail and wealth experience the work was carried out smoothly and even a global pandemic didn’t prevent us completing on time.

Finished Space

We were working to a tight deadline to complete the fit out and refurbishment. Little did we know how important it was that we met the deadline of March 2020. Our contractors completed the fit out just before the country went into National Lockdown due to the Covid – 19 pandemic. These newly opened offices allowed our client to maintain social distancing – a term that didn’t exist when the project commenced! Bicycles were given ‘essential item’ status so the factory was just as busy as ever trying to keep up with the demand. As a result the extra space we created was even more valuable by the time it was finished.
