At CID Spaces, we believe that exceptional interiors and environmental responsibility can go hand-in-hand. That’s why sustainability is embedded into every stage of our process—from the materials we specify to the systems we install and the way we manage our sites.

Sustainable Materials

We carefully select materials that are responsibly sourced and have strong environmental credentials.

Finishes are chosen based on recycled content, product certifications, and carbon footprint.
Timber products hold FSC certificates and are from traceable, responsibly managed forests
Paints, adhesives, and sealants used on our sites are low or zero-VOC promoting better indoor air quality.
Wherever feasible, we specify recyclable, reusable, or demountable products, reducing the need for future waste.

Energy Efficient M&E

Lighting

LED technology is paired with smart sensors, dimming controls, and daylight-responsive setups to reduce consumption.

HVAC

Systems are selected based on their efficiency ratings, lifecycle energy consumption, and maintenance requirements. We promote the use of low-carbon alternatives such as heat pumps, demand-controlled ventilation, and energy recovery units.

Power

Electrical systems are designed to accommodate zonal energy management and allow for metering that encourages ongoing monitoring and optimisation by the end user.

Insulation

We place a strong emphasis on insulation in both wall and ceiling constructions to improve energy efficiency and occupant comfort. High-performance insulation helps reduce the need for excessive heating or cooling, directly lowering carbon emissions associated with building operations.

At CID Spaces, we commonly install mineral wool insulation, such as Rockwool, which offers excellent thermal and acoustic performance.

Wherever possible, we integrate insulation early in the design and build process to maximise its benefits and ensure compliance with Part L (Conservation of fuel and power) and Part E (Resistance to the passage of sound) of UK Building Regulations.

Waste Management

Waste reduction and responsible disposal are key to our sustainability strategy. On every project we aim to minimise landfill use and increase recycling and reuse.

Waste is segregated on site into streams (e.g. timber, plasterboard, metal, cardboard) to maximise recycling potential.
Materials that can be salvaged or repurposed are reused on the same project or donated elsewhere.
We work with licensed waste partners who report on diversion from landfill.

Local Supply Chains

To support local economies and reduce emissions from transport, we prioritise working with suppliers and subcontractors located close to our project sites. This ensures faster response times, lower carbon emissions, and stronger accountability. Using local trades also supports job creation in the areas where we work and encourages long-term community investment

Refurbishment Over Replacement

Where possible, we encourage clients to reuse and refurbish rather than replace including:

Reusing existing partitions and adapting them to new layouts
Upcycling or reupholstering furniture
Replacing outdated system components instead of full installation

Sustainable Design Thinking

Our design team incorporates environmentally-conscious planning from the outset of each project:

Layouts are created to maximise natural daylight and airflow
Materials are specified based on durability, environmental impact, and ease of maintenance
Biophilic elements like planting, natural textures, and daylight integration help create healthy and inspiring workspaces

Learning

Our commitment to sustainability is ongoing. We regularly review our processes and educate our team on best practices in sustainable construction and refurbishment.

We monitor developments in green building standards and stay up-to-date with innovations in sustainable technologies and materials
We engage with industry frameworks such as circular economy principles, aiming to minimise waste and extend the lifecycle of the environments we create
